Shrugging off the recession

The government stimulus may actually boost consumption… of Atlas Shrugged novels:

Sales of Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” have almost tripled over the first seven weeks of this year compared with sales for the same period in 2008. This continues a strong trend after bookstore sales reached an all-time annual high in 2008 of about 200,000 copies sold.

A good sign considering there’s never been a more relevant time to read Ayn Rand’s magnum opus.

    Hi Robbie,

Is this really the most relevant time to be reading Ayn Rand? Should society be promoting the values promoted by Rand? A woman who felt that she had to prove herself to the conservative community by increasingly ramping up her rhetoric.

Instead, surely this is the time to hear from people like Gramsci and Foucault, individuals who challenged the fundamental elements on which today’s capitalist societies are based upon

I do enjoy reading your libertarian analysis Robbie, however I think you’ve gone one step too far here.

    All the Best,

    Teddy
